Tuesday 16th July – Windsurf ** River Orwell at Levington – sunny
periods.
Foil – 18.86 knot max , 16.84 knot ave, 3.10 knot hour, 10.74 knot
mile, 19.31 km., 10.97 knot alpha.
Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham
Storm 6.5.
The heavy overnight rain had passed through and we had some sunshine with a
bit of breeze forecast but turning offshore at somepoint, also with high
water just before 8 I thought it best to avoid Felixstowe seafront
especially as it would have been wind with tide so headed over to
Levington. I arrived at the marina at 8.45 with loads of water to launch
and with enough wind to tempt me into rigging my 6.5 sadly I should have
been braver and rig 7.5 but I am not keen on using that as its so heavy,
perhaps its time to look for a rdm 460 mast ?I put my mast track further
forward to see if it would help keep the nose of the board down but was not
flying enough to really notice any difference, there was also a lot of weed
in the river which is a bit of a pain, I had a few flying runs across the
corner then slowly made my way against the tide towards Pin Mill hoping to
find more wind, I did manage my best run here but things were very patchy
now so decided to call it a day, not the best session but at least I was
home nice and early leaving me time to have a cuppa and cake with an old
friend:)
PS - was well chuffed to get a pic on this evenings Look East on the
BBC:)
